The 2021 edition of Financial Literacy Week, which will run until February 12, began today.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has been organising this programme every year since 2016 to propagate financial education. This year’s theme is ‘credit discipline and credit from formal institutions’.
The event was inaugurated by Chief Secretary MS Rao through video conferencing. RBI Shillong General Manager P Gangte, state government officials and representatives of banks attended.
As part of the Financial Literacy Week, banks have been advised by the RBI to disseminate information and create awareness among their customers on this year’s theme by displaying posters that have been developed by the RBI on their websites, ATMs and branch display boards.
RBI Shillong will also organise a special financial literacy camp with a focus on 100 percent digitisation of Ri-Bhoi at Saiden village tomorrow and a financial literacy awareness event in Mawkdok, East Khasi Hills on February 12.
