The BJP Garo Hills unit has decided to approach the BJP State president Earnest Mawrie and State in charge of Meghalaya M Chuba Ao and press for putting up of party candidate for the Rajabala Assembly by-election, which is likely to be announced by the Election Commission of India in the near future.
The decision was taken at a meeting held recently convened by BJP State general secretary Thomas N. Marak at the party’s office in Tura that was attended by party leaders from different districts and constituencies of Garo Hills.
Marak claimed that the party has chances to win the Rajabala by-election and that the party in Garo hills has already started ground preparation in all the districts and constituencies for the next Assembly elections in 2023.
Stating that people in Garo hills appreciated the dynamic leadership of BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Marak also said that since the Independence of the country no other Prime Minister has given direct benefits and welfare schemes to the poor and needy other than Modi.
“Under the BJP government, the poor people of Garo hills have benefitted from schemes like the Jan Dhan, PM Kisan Scheme, free rice in this lockdown period and water supply to every household in rural areas under Jal Jeevan Mission, etc,” Marak said.
He said that the BJP is confident of winning maximum seats from Garo Hills in the next Assembly election in the State based on its performances.
