Shillong, Nov 5: The Voice of the People Party (VPP) has criticised the State government for the delay in making the report of the expert committee on the State Job Reservation Policy public.
The committee on the state reservation policy headed by Justice (Retd) M.C. Garg had submitted its report to the Meghalaya government in June this year.
“It is surprising that the government has not been able to make the report public for the information of the stakeholders,” VPP President Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit in a letter to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said.
He said it is nearly five months since the committee submitted its report. “The time taken by the government is too long,” he added.
Basaiawmoit however congratulated the expert committee for submitting its report within two years of its constitution.
The expert committee, which was constituted in 2023, was tasked to review the current framework of reservation that provides 40 per cent reservation each for Khasi-Jaintia and Garo communities, 5 per cent for other Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes, and 15 per cent for the unreserved category.
