Nurses who have qualified for the posts of staff nurse in the examination conducted by the Meghalaya Medical Services Recruitment Board today urged the state government to speed up the recruitment process.
According to the qualified nurses, they had studied and worked hard for their success.
Recently, candidates of the staff nurse recruitment examination have expressed dissatisfaction over the results declared stating there is no transparency. However, the passed nurses naturally disagree with this opinion and have defended the exam process.
The examination was conducted under the Meghalaya Medical Services Recruitment Board (MMSRB) on September 21. The result notification was published by the Department of Health and Family Welfare in the Meghalaya portal.
Shemphang Wankhar, one of the successful candidates, said that in earlier years – 2017 and 2019 – the examination conducted by the Directorate of Health Services (DHS) for the posts of staff nurse, the names of only shortlisted candidates were notified.
“During those times we never knew how many marks we secured and we were not allowed to carry the question papers [home]. We even had to wait for months for the results to be declared,” Wankhar said.
He also said that in 2021, when there was recruitment of staff nurses, the names of exactly the same number of posts available were shortlisted along with the marks they secured. “We never knew how many marks other candidates secured,” he added.
The 2021 examination results were declared after one year. Compared to the current situation, Wankhar said that the MMSRB declared the results of the latest examination within a week.
The qualified candidates also said that all candidates were supplied with the answer keys so that they can check their answers as well as appreciated the setting up of the grievance cell.
Wankhar also said that the recruitment process was transparent this time even as he added that they were videographed during the writing of the examination.
Another successful candidate, Mary Bahun Marbaniang, said that if anyone has an issue they can write to the grievance cell who will then allow them to get their OMR sheet. “What’s more transparent than this?” she asked.
