A government vehicle was torched by unidentified persons here today.
The vehicle, having registration number ML-01-5989 and belonging to the Public Works Department (PWD), was completely destroyed in the blaze.
Police said that the incident took place around 3 am near the Nongmensong Umkdait post office.
By the time emergency services arrived at the scene, the vehicle had already sustained extensive damage.
A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
It may be mentioned that on the morning of July 25, a petrol bomb was thrown by miscreants at the roof of a house at Them Mawbah here.
The house belongs to one Julie Lyngdoh, who has rented it to non-tribal labourers. However, no one was injured in the petrol bomb attack.
