Shillong, Sep 17: A day-long Purple Fair was held at the District Library in Mynthong, Jowai to celebrate inclusivity and raise awareness about the rights and contributions of the persons with disabilities.
The fair was jointly organised by Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development, Rehabilitation & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan) (CRCSRE- Shillong) in collaboration with the district administration.
The event aimed at promoting awareness, inclusion, and empowerment of persons with disabilities (PwDs), witnessed an enthusiastic turnout with over 764 participants, including 389 Persons with Disabilities from across the district and beyond.
The fair served as a vibrant platform for dialogue, collaboration, and showcasing talents, products, and services by and for persons with disabilities.
Health Minister Wailadmiki Shylla attended the programme as the chief guest in the presence of West Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner Abhinav Kumar Singh, Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities L. Kynjing and other officials.
