A community toilet complex near the Additional Secretariat here was inaugurated by East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Isawanda Laloo today.
The complex was constructed by social service NGO Sulabh International under the corporate social responsibility scheme of the government-owned and Bangalore-based Antrix Corporation Ltd.
The North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC) coordinated with local authorities to realise the project, which was built on land given by the Public Works Department.
Sulabh International will maintain the pay-and-use toilets for 30 years.
