Shillong, Sep 24: A public meeting was organized by the Ka Sur U Paidbah Ka Bri U Hynniewtrep at Malki ground, here today with the aim of uniting the people against crime and promoting awareness about their duties and responsibilities.
Spokesperson Thomas Passah stressed the need for collective effort to eradicate crimes against children, women, and men. He criticised the government’s failure to provide basic amenities, such as street lights, which compromises pedestrian safety.
HYC leader Enlang Sawian attributed the rise in crimes against women and children to the inefficiency of the State Home Department. He stated that perpetrators are often granted bail too easily and may go unpunished due to the lack of competent Special Public Prosecutors.
FKJGP leader Kitboklang Nongphlang stated that victims seldom get justice and called for unity to fight against all the evil happening in the state.
Other speakers also spoke on the rampant addiction and menace of drugs.
The meeting aimed to promote awareness and encourage community participation in addressing social issues. With the KSUPB7T’s efforts, the community hopes to bring about positive change and ensure a safer environment for all.
