Former chief minister and TMC legislator Dr. Mukul Sangma said that the decision of VPP MLAs to stage a walk out from the Assembly today in protest against the Hindi speech by Governor Phagu Chauhan was “self explanatory”.
Dr. Sangma said that the views of the Opposition members expressed in the previous Assembly are on record.
“They are on record, they are available, and you have to replay the optics,” he said, adding that he did not want to repeat what was already raised in the House.
Asked if he feels it is equally responsible for the Central government to appoint a Governor that can speak the language that the people in the State understand, Dr. Sangma said, “The most important part is to have that whole sense of appreciation of the huge diversity that this nation has from linguistic, cultural and religious perspectives.”
According to him, how political parties respond to a given situation is very important since different political parties have different ways of doing things.
