North Shillong MLA Adelbert Nongrum has lauded the Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC) for re-advertising the 35 vacancies in the Meghalaya Civil Service (MCS) and for making the recruitment as per prospective roster system.
In a statement issued today, Nongrum said that the MPSC has cancelled the previous advertisement for MCS posts which was done under the retrospective roster system which according to him was partial since 14 posts have been reserved for Garos and 11 for Khasi-Jaintia category.
“The new advertisement floated by MPSC is satisfactory since the posts have been reserved equally among the Garos and Khasi-Jaintia categories respectively,” he said.
Nongrum also urged the MPSC to re-advertise the posts of LDA in Meghalaya Secretariat, Veterinary Officers, Junior Divisional Accountant etc. He also urged the Central Recruitment Board of Meghalaya Police to re-advertise the posts of constables so that the job seekers from the State are not deprived of their right for employment.
