The East Khasi Hills district administration today passed an order under Section 163 of the BNSS restricting the loading capacity and speed limit of vehicles on two bridges in East Khasi Hills.
Deputy Commissioner RM Kurbah informed that Umpung Bridge on the Balat-Bagli Road and a timber bridge over the Dakni River at Balat on the Mawphlang-Balat Road situated at Wahjapuh River of Ichamati-Bholaganj Road in the district are reported to be in weak condition.
According to the order, the loading capacity should be 6 tonnes and the speed limit of vehicles should be 15km per hour to avoid further damage to the bridges.
