Four pressure groups – the Khasi Students Union, Ri-Bhoi Youth Federation, Hynñiewtrep National Youth Front and Federation of Khasi, Jaiñtia and Garo People – have revived their demand for the introduction of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) in Meghalaya.
The four groups decided now is the time to remind the authorities of their demands as the government has relaxed Covid-19 restrictions.
Besides ILP, they also want the implementation of the Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Act 2016, entry-exit checkpoints in the state and proper functioning of the District Task Force Committee.
A public meeting in this regard was held today at Umsning in which local headmen and traditional leaders gave the pressure groups a hearing.
