The Shillong Press Club expressed its profound grief at the death of a strong pillar of Meghalaya journalism, L Morrow Mohon Kharpuri, who passed away recently.
Born on January 1, 1939, Bah Morrow, as he was lovingly known by all, was the editor of Ka Pyrthei Mynta.
As the senior most accredited journalist, Kharpuri was humble enough to interact freely with all journalists be it old or young, fresh or seasoned. “He gladly shared his vast experiences and knowledge with anyone with an ear to listen and a heart to learn. Even towards the sunset of his life he would always enquire about the wellbeing of the Shillong Press Club which he held close to his heart,” a message from the SPC said today.
In his passing away, the journalist fraternity has lost a great soul, learned journalist and scholar, humble personality and above all, a towering fatherly figure which will be very difficult to replace, it added, while conveying its condolences to the bereaved family members.
