Shillong, Mar 12: The Roman Catholic Diocese of Tura’s bishops, Andrew R. Marak and Jose Chirackal, have called for a day of prayer and fasting on March 13, seeking peace in Garo Hills and globally.
In a joint appeal, they expressed concern over recent violence, noting loss of lives, injuries, and property damage.
The bishops urged priests, religious leaders, and faithful to conduct special prayers and observe fasting in churches, institutions, and homes. They highlighted disruptions to normal life, scarcity of essentials, and the need for peaceful conflict resolution.
Rejecting violence, the church leaders appealed for mutual respect, peace, and harmony, emphasizing dialogue and lawful resolution. They urged citizens to help restore peace and normalcy, praying for lasting peace in Garo Hills and worldwide.
