National Award-winning filmmaker Pradip Kurbah debuted his first silent short film, ‘Path’ at St Anthony’s College on Saturday.
Also shown at the college’s ‘Film Odyssey’ is the Assamese film ‘Boroxun’ (Songs for Rain), which was made by college alumnus, Krishna KT Borah.
‘Path’ is a love story born out of the Covid-19 pandemic that tells the life of people living in the border areas. Shot in black and white, Kurbah said that it is a reflection of the people living in these borderlands and the situation they have been living through.
Kurbah has explored with a no-dialogue movie to explore further aspects of filmmaking. To show the emotion of the characters without them speaking is challenging, he said, but filmmakers never cease learning new things.
Speaking to Highland Post, Borah said that ‘Boroxun’, which has garnered rave reviews, was completed in 2020 and the film is about the simplicity of village life, and the sacrifices, loves and superstitions that drive the people there.
The Film Odyssey also encompassed a photo exhibition and was organised by the sixth semester students of the college’s Mass Media Department.
