Shillong, Sep 13: The inaugural function to mark the month-long celebration of Poshan Maah was held at Balughat Community Hall, under Zikzak C&RD Block, South West Garo Hills, on September 12.
As part of the celebration, a tree plantation drive – “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” was organised, symbolising the nurturing role of mothers and promoting environmental well-being.
The inaugural session also highlighted key themes of Poshan Maah, including awareness on prevention of obesity, promotion of infant and young child feeding (IYCF) practices, and men-streaming to encourage men’s involvement in family nutrition and health.
In addition, the importance of Early Childhood Care & Education (ECCE) was emphasised under the theme “Poshan Bhi, Padhai Bhi”, integrating nutrition with early learning for the holistic development of children.
With inspiring messages, health and nutrition awareness, and enthusiastic participation from the community, the inaugural function marked a meaningful beginning to the month-long celebration of Poshan Maah.
