The District Social Welfare Officer cum Member Secretary, Transgender Justice Board, West Jaintia Hills has informed that transgender persons can apply for gender identity certificates online.
Launched by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, the portal allows transgender persons to upload an affidavit declaring their gender, which then becomes the basis for their identity certificates to be issued by the respective district magistrates.
Through the portal, http://transgender.dosje.gov.in transgender person can now easily obtain certificates and ID Cards and also access various government services.
