The decades-old demand of the people of Pomlum was finally fulfilled on Saturday after local MLA and cabinet minister Hamletson Dohling the 0.978km road at 7th Mile, Upper Shillong.
The road was completed at a cost of Rs 45 lakh.
Dohling expressed joy at the timely completion of the road and hoped that the road will go a long way in bringing overall development to the village.
This project was a long-felt need of the people, and successive MLAs had tried to turn it into a reality.
Headman, A Lyngdoh, stated that it is a historic moment for the village, as the road had been in a dilapidated condition for a long time. Thanking the MLA, he informed that the roadworks were completed even before any scheme had been sanctioned.
