The Synjuk ki Rangbah Shnong Nongkhrah-Nonglyngdoh today threatened to take back the land that was donated for the setting up of a polytechnic if the government does not make any progress on the seemingly abandoned project.
The land in question was donated in 2013 for a polytechnic in Nongkhrah, Ri-Bhoi. Work on the project began but was then terminated part of the way by the contractor and locals claim that the unfinished buildings are being used for all sorts of anti-social activities by miscreants.
The project was sanctioned at a cost of over Rs 7 crore, of which Rs 2 crore was sanctioned for the first phase.
An inspection today was led by the chairman of the Synjuk ki Rangbah Shnong Nongkhrah-Nonglyngdoh, LS Pamshong, secretary Cyril Maring and others.
A memorandum has been submitted to the Ri-Bhoi Deputy Commissioner to urge for his intervention into the matter.
