Police arrested two gold snatchers and recovered a pendant stolen last night.
According to Superintendent of Police (City) Herbert Kharkongor the gold pendant was snatched by two individuals from an unidentified person, suspected to be a drug user from Polo on Wednesday at around 11 pm.
The two accused, Kenny Kharmujat (24) and Subroto Baidya (32), both of Lumshyiap, Nongmensong, fled towards Police Bazar via Jail Road after the act.
However, swift action by a police team led by sub inspector I. Warjri led to their arrest at around 11: 45 pm near the Kim Hyundai showroom, Golf Links and seized the pendant from Kharmujat.
Meanwhile, police are seeking information from citizens who may have recently been subjected to theft or lost gold ornaments under suspicious circumstances to file a formal complaint at Sadar Police Station.
“This will enable the police to take appropriate action and facilitate the return of the recovered gold pendant to its rightful owner,” Kharkongor said.
“The police remain committed to swift, fair, and transparent enforcement of the law and urge citizens to assist in ensuring justice is delivered,” he added.
