The Khasi Students Union (KSU) has expressed its concern over alleged highhandedness of the authorities towards farmers who are transporting their produce during the ongoing lockdown.
According to the pressure group, the attitude of the authorities, especially the police, is posing a difficulty to farmers who need to bring their produce to market or losing it to rotting.
“The law enforcers are becoming a stumbling block for our farmers,” the KSU claimed.
While police, the KSU said, harass local farmers, they are doing nothing to check the entry of migrants into the state. There have been several cases over the past week where pressure groups have apprehended inter-state migrants coming into Meghalaya despite the restrictions brought on by the lockdown.
