Shillong, Aug 25: The Anti Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) in West Garo Hills District arrested two drug peddlers, including a woman, and seized 09.87 grams of heroin, police said today.
On August 23 based on information that narcotic substances were being transported from Guwahati to Tura in a night super bus, the ANTF intercepted a night super bus (ML 08G 0799).
During a search, the team apprehended Cheyanjring R. Marak (27) of Captain Bagan, New Tura and Jemisha A Sangma (22) of Tura Wadanang Jangga and recovered brownish-power from their possession that later tested positive of heroin.
A case has been registered under the NDPS Act and investigation is on.
West Garo Hills Superintendent of Police Abraham T Sangma in a statement said police is committed to continuing its strong action against drug trafficking in the district.
He urged the public to cooperate, be vigilant and report such illegal activities to help police protect society from the menace of drugs.
