The Cabinet today approved the inclusion of Pnar language by amending the Meghalaya State Anthem, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma informed.
This decision was taken based on suggestions by various representatives from Jaintia Hills especially Deputy Chief Minister, Sniawbhalang Dhar and other cabinet ministers.
Sangma informed that the State Anthem will be unveiled during the opening ceremony of the Meghalaya Games which will be held in Wahiajer, West Jaintia Hills district on January 20.
The anthem was released by the State government on the occasion of Statehood day last year. The anthem was composed by Late Neil Nongkynrih, founder of the Shillong Chamber Choir with lyrical representation of English, Khasi and Garo languages.
The exclusion of Pnar language in the anthem was opposed by various groups soon after its release.
