A one day mela on the PM Street Vendor’s AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) was organised by the Meghalaya & Greater Shillong Progressive Hawkers and Street Vendors Association in collaboration with the Meghalaya Urban Development Authority (MUDA) at U Soso Tham auditorium today.
The central scheme, which was launched in June amid the pandemic, is a micro-credit facility that provides street vendors a collateral-free loan of Rs 10,000 with low rates of interest for a period of one year.
About 500 street vendors attended the mela along with government officials including the Director and City Mission Managers of MUDA, representatives State Bank of India, Meghalaya Rural Bank and others.
MGSPHSVA general secretary, Shane Thabah said that vendors were detailed on how to apply for the scheme and documents required to submit with the application.
He said that application forms will be accepted at the office of the urban affairs in Raitong Building, IGP from February 5 to 12 during working hours.
