The Federation of Riwar Mihngi Local Dorbar (FORMLD) has today urged the State government to closely monitor and assist the ongoing construction of the road and bridge leading to Pyrdiwah village so that this project which is of public and national security importance is completed within the stipulated time.
It may be mentioned that the government had sanctioned the construction of a cemented bridge and approach road to the border outpost and Pyrdiwah village in 2018.
In a letter to the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills today, the FORMLD requested that the ongoing construction of the bridge and road towards the border outpost and Pyrdiwah be monitored and inspected “at the highest levels of administration” so that there is no scope for delay in the construction of this vital road project which is critical for national security.
Pyrdiwah village located close to the international border with Bangladesh shot into prominence after the infamous overrun by then Bangladesh Rifles (now known as Border Guards Bangladesh) in April 2001.
