As part of the countrywide observation of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, a photo exhibition-cum-Covid-19 awareness campaign was today inaugurated by the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Eastern West Khasi Hills, V Swer, at Madan Mot Tirot, Mairang.
Organized by the Regional Outreach Bureau of the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the inaugural function was also attended by the Syiem of Hima Nongkhlaw, PM Syiemlieh, Myntris of the Hima, Mairang Block Development Officer CP Mawkon, Regional Director of the Regional Outreach Bureau Engam Pame and others.
The photos on display at the two-day exhibition document the freedom fighters of the country whose valour and sacrifice ensured that India achieved its independence from British rule.
Fervour was added to the programme by a dance performed by Da Thymmei Performing Arts of Shillong.
