Phoebe Dale Nongrum, Meghalaya’s first woman to be selected into a Formula LGB 4 team scripted history winning the third podium in the 23rd Jktyre National Racing championship 2020 held in Coimbatore recently.
There were a total of 26 women drivers on the track racing for the podium. It was the first for Phoebe in the formula racing thereby setting a new record for the North East as well.
“It’s wasn’t easy and for me it was a long time coming. I have been working hard and putting in hard work and a lot of effort. But in the end I am happy that my hard work and effort has paid off and earned me this podium,” she told Highland Post.
Phoebe was leading the race in the women’s category on the first day of the championship, but unfortunately on the second she couldn’t finish race one and three but managed to get the third podium finish.
“It was a tough week. Losing two races was a bummer, but at every race I learn something new,” she said, adding, “I am overwhelmed to be on this national podium and made history for the region and my state. Looking forward to many more podiums and championships.”
