VPP president Ardent M. Basaiawmoit today questioned the ruling NPP for not coming out with a manifesto for the upcoming Lok Sabha election in the State.
Addressing a huge election meeting at Mawlai petrol pump junction here today evening, Basaiawmoit also hit out at the NPP and UDP for not campaigning on issues but making attacks only against the VPP.
“The NPP has not yet come out with its manifesto for this election. Perhaps they want to implement the manifesto of the BJP,” he said to the thunderous applause of the crowd.
Lauding the people for the massive support to the VPP, Basaiawmoit said that this election is a fight between the low level and the high level.
“The low level will decide who will win this election. On April 19 the people will give their verdict. Many people from outside the State even called me and said that VPP will win hands down,” he added.
Stating that the VPP’s victory in the Lok Sabha election will pave the way for the party to capture power in the State, Basaiawmoit said, “The voice of the people will one day become the power of the people. The people will throw out those who have exploited them and misled them.”
Basaiawmoit also flayed the NPP and UDP for raising non-issues during the poll campaigning.
“Instead of speaking on issues, they focused their attack only against the VPP,” he said.
Urging the people to go to the polling stations and cast their vote on April 19, the VPP chief said that party candidate Ricky A J Syngkon will represent the aspirations of the people of Shillong parliamentary constituency in parliament.
