The People’s Democratic Front (PDF) met here today sans two of its MLAs, Hamletson Dohling and Jason Sawkmie Mawlong.
The triennial conference of the party was held was held at Mawkhar in the presence of the working president of the party, Banteidor Lyngdoh and others.
Earlier, murmur of Mawlong and Mylliem keen on quitting the party was making the rounds. Unlike other parties, the PDF had struck no agreement in 2018 about sharing cabinet berths, which meant that Dohling and Lyngdoh have occupied their seats in the state cabinet since then.
However, the rumour was short-lived as the PDF elected Mylliem to head the party as its president, though the stance of Jason is not known.
Asked about the absence of the two MLAs, Mylliem said that Dohling and Mawlong were invited to attend the party meet. “Till July this year they have never missed meetings and programme of the party. Though we don’t have the answer why they skipped meeting the CEC of the party will sit and discuss to decide on the future course of action against them,” he said.
Mylliem said the party has not decided on its candidates to contest the elections and will be meeting soon.
Meanwhile, he informed that the party had formed 28 zones committees in six districts committees and many primary committees across the state.
At the meeting the party discuss ways to strengthen its fold ahead of the elections. “Our main focus is to stick to our objectives to serve the people,” Mylliem said.
