Shillong, Aug 11: To strengthen border security, the Umkiang Police Patrol Post (PPP) and the Border Security Force (BSF) conducted an extensive joint border patrolling along the Indo-Bangladesh border in East Jaintia Hills today.
The joint operation focused on key vulnerable stretches, aiming to prevent illegal cross-border activities and maintain a constant security presence in the border areas. This collaborative effort underscores the commitment of Indian authorities to safeguard the country’s borders and prevent illicit activities.
The joint patrolling initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance border security, which has become increasingly important in recent times. The Indo-Bangladesh border has been vulnerable to illegal activities, including smuggling and infiltration.
Similar joint operations have been conducted in other parts of the country, including Assam and Tripura, where the BSF and local police have strengthened security arrangements along the international border.
The BSF has also been working closely with the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) to conduct coordinated patrols and joint watches to curb hostile activities.
