Jirang MLA, Sosthenes Sohtun today led a delegation of representatives from Patharkhmah to the Chief Minister seeking upgrade of the administrative unit to a civil sub-division.
Informing that the administrative unit of Patharkhmah will soon attain 32 years, Sohtun said that as an elected representative of the area, he had pursued with the demand since 2018 with Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong.
According to the MLA, the people in the border area of Western Ri-Bhoi who are inconvenienced by the distance of the district headquarter, which is about 60 kms will be done away if Patharkhmah gets a civil sub division status.
He said that the discussion with the CM was fruitful and they were told that the matter will be considered after going through the various processes.
Meanwhile, Sohtun informed that normalcy has returned in Ïongkhuli and hoped that the government resolve the differences with Assam at the earliest.
