In a special operation conducted by Meghalaya police, three men were arrested in a pan-Meghalaya drug bust.
Two drug peddlers, Cherak R Marak and Tengsuang S Sangma were arrested today morning in Tura with approximately 8.19g of heroin in their possession. Marak hails from Gongadamal, West Garo Hills, and Sangma from Williamnagar, East Garo Hills.
One Maruti Alto car (ML 08 G 6541), Rs 14,230 in cash, two mobile phones and “other incriminating materials” were also seized, West Garo Hills Superintendent of Police VS Rathore said in a release.
A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act 1985 at Tura police station.
During their interrogation, the two suspects told police that the contraband was sent to them by one Bryan Nongmor (25), of Sohiong, East Khasi Hills, but residing in Latikor Rngi.
Accordingly, information was shared with East Khasi Hills police and, in a subsequent house search, anti-narcotics police recovered approximately 4.43g of heroin, one mobile phone and other incriminating materials.
A separate case was registered against Nongmor at Madanrting police station.
