Shillong, Oct 12: The SIAMSINPAWLPI Shillong organised the 62nd Siamsin Freshers’ Meet cum Annual Conference at U Soso Tham Auditorium here on Saturday.
The occasion was presided over by N Thangthianmuang and Lia Kimmalsawm as comperes. The invocation prayer was led by H Vungkhopau and preamble reading was led by Theodore Thongthianlal Valte, assistant secretary.
The welcome address and presidential speech were delivered by Suankhenmung Shoute, president of SIAMSINPAWLPI joint headquarters Shillong. The president highlighted the vision, aims and objectives of the organisation, namely SININ, SEMIN and JUUNIN (Learn, Labour and Serve). He encouraged the students to take active part in the organisation as it is the beginning of moulding oneself for leadership training. Special and life achievement award was given to Shoute by the Young Paite Association (YPA) Shillong.
Special guest LB Muanthang, member (power) Krishna River Management Board (DGM) Hyderabad, in his address reiterated the importance of maintaining good character and integrity in student life.
The pastoral prayer and blessings for the freshers was offered by Pastor Jambiaklal Tunglut of the Evangelical Baptist Convention Church (EBCC) Shillong. The prayer for the departed leaders and members of the organisation was led by Khamsuanthang Valte, Director of the Worldwide Evangelisation for Christ (WEC).
The main attraction was special traditional costumes showcased by Zomi Edmundians and choreography-cum-cultural dance by Zomi Anthonians. Various artistes also leant their presence to the event, like Kim Paite, Lazom Ngaihte, Goungaihnem, Roslyn Kimkim, Naomi Ningsanching Tonsing, Ngaisuankim, Mangngaihnem, Mansiankim, etc.
