The sixth P. A. Sangma memorial lecture was organised by the North-Eastern Hill University, Tura Campus and P. A.Sangma Foundation, Tura attended by educators, social workers, scientists and students recently.
Dr. Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University chancellor, Prof. Prafulla Kumar Mishra while delivering the lecture on the topic “The Science of Living”, focused on the present-day challenges and hazards of consumerism and capitalistic impulses that thwart the multifaceted growth of an individual.
To overcome these challenges and hazards, Prof. Mishra recommended personality development through good habits and regularity, values and a balanced style of living infused with self-respect, grace and good health.
“It is important to know oneself, live within, and change one’s mindless obsession for material objects,” he said and highlighted that value-added life and higher living are not based on material perspective but introspection and self actualisation.
He stressed that one should discover oneself, and develop confidence and abilities to live harmoniously with nature. He also highlighted the significance of community living and highlighted that it will help one to become a self-made man, a successful icon not only for himself but also for the society, the country, and the world.
