The State government has paid Rs 76, 44,900 as financial assistance to 60 individuals affected by fire incidents.
Revenue & Disaster Management Minister Kyrmen Shylla informed during the budget session that in 2023-24, Rs 47, 25,000 was given to 31 people and Rs 29, 19,900 to 29 individuals as financial assistance.
Responding to a query raised by Mawryngkneng MLA Heavingstone Kharpran, Shylla informed that a family of one Midaris Pde of Kut village was given an assistance of Rs 1. 30 lakh as per norms specified under the State Disaster Response Force.
No relief assistance was given to Riburom Kharrngi of Puriang village but Rs 1.30 lakh was provided as relief to the owner of the house, Helpme Kharrngi, which was released on February 18, 2025.
Kharpran wanted to know if the government considers providing additional funds to MLA, whom the affected families would approach first.
Shylla responded that separate MLA funds are available and the state cannot go beyond the SDRF norms.
