East Khasi Hills district has a total of 5, 40,600 voters, according to the final photo electoral rolls published today.
The figure is however not inclusive of Sohra Civil Sub Division, which covers the Sohra and Shella Assembly constituencies.
Providing the breakup of the figures Additional Deputy Commissioner Ronnieson Wahlang informed that the total number of votes is for the 15 constituencies under the district.
He informed that there are 2, 59, 332 males, 2, 81, 266 females and two transgender.
“This does not mean we have closed the enrollment in the electoral rolls. Now we have continuous updation and through the office of the district election officer we appeal to those eligible with proper documents and residents of the state to come forward and enrol themselves,” Wahlang told reporters.
He said that one can enrol themselves through online mode by going to the website of the Election Commission of India by filling up forms 6, 7 and 8.
Wahlang also informed that in the 2019 Member of Parliament election the polling percentage in these 15 assembly constituencies was 63.80 per cent which is less while in the 2023 Assembly polls it was more than 80 per cent.
He appealed to the electorates in the coming MP elections to come out and vote in large numbers.
