Over 10,000 people have received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccination in West Garo Hills, it was revealed today.
District Maternal and Child Health Officer, Dr Ivonne M Sangma, told a meeting of officials in Tura today that 9,996 healthcare and frontline workers, including paramilitary forces, have received the vaccine at hospitals in Tura.
Within two days of the next round, more than 700 in the 60-plus age group and 110 of those between 45 and 59 with co-morbidities have also received the jab.
The vaccine will soon be available in public health centres (PHCs) and sub-centres in the district, she added.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Ram Singh directed that if any frontline workers or paramilitary forces that were left out or were on leave can do on the spot registration and be vaccinated at any hospital by submitting any one of the necessary documents, namely EPIC, Aadhaar card, driving license or passport.
