The State government has suspended operations of border haats and export points in East Khasi Hills district to safeguard the population from the uncontrollable surge of COVID-19 cases in the district till May 10.
In an order, the East Khasi Hills District Magistrate said weekly markets will not operate as usual, but will be strictly regulated by the SDOs (C) and BDOs concerned to cater only to essential public requirements. BDOs will rope in Market Committees and COVID Management Committees to ensure awareness on COVID-19.
All COVID-19 preventive protocols of mask- wearing, social distancing and hand hygiene, etc should be strictly complied with by all concerned.
