A resident of the Dabit locality of Baghmara in South Garo Hills lost his life after the truck he was driving apparently veered off the road and fell into a nearby gorge within the Panda Reserve Forest, close to the border village of Rongara.
The driver of the vehicle, Jeten T Sangma (28) who was also the only occupant, lost his life during the incident.
While the exact time and date of the incident is speculative, police officials received information of the accident only today morning, after the owner of the vehicle was informed by the villagers of the matter.
The area where the incident took place is extremely remote and without much human population. It was only this morning that the villagers saw the pik-up truck following which the authorities were informed.
The owner then informed the local police officials in Baghmara who then rushed to the spot and recovered the body of the victim before he was handed over to his family following procedures being followed.
The vehicle was on its way to Rongara from Baghmara.
