East Jaiñtia Hills police arrested a man and recovered 290 grams of heroin today.
The accused identified as Abul Kashim Md Abbas of Patharkhandi in Karimnganj was travelling in a night super bus.
Acting on credible information police led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (Crime) Bidhan Bhattacharjee the bus was stopped at Umtyra.
During inspection, 25 multi colour soap boxes where found from one of the bags of the accused, which later tested positive of heroin.
Police also seized his mobile phone.
A case under the NDPS has been registered and investigation is on.
