North Garo Hills police arrested A person near Bajengdoba after he was caught with an illegal firearm.
A report was received by the police team from Bajengdoba that the person identified as Saddam K Sangma was carrying illegal arms yesterday with the intention of committing crimes.
Accordingly an operation was launched and the accused was apprehended by policemen from near the Bajengdoba market area (Gosinpita). A country made pistol and one live pistol ammunition were also recovered from his possession.
“We have arrested him and a case has been registered. An investigation into the matter is currently ongoing. We are questioning him to find out more,” superintendent of police Abraham T Sangma said.
Sangma added that the arrested person is suspected to be part of gang of criminals who were committing crimes around the Bajengdoba area.
