One person was arrested from Rimasar village along the international border in East Khasi Hills district for allegedly trying to smuggle banned Yaba tablets to Bangladesh, the BSF said.
Acting on a tip-off, BSF personnel apprehended the person identified as 42-year old Prakash Sumer a resident of Umsyiem on Sunday and recovered 3000 Yaba tablets from his possession, they said.
The accused person was approaching the border area in his car (Datsun go – ML 05 S 8414) to hand over Yaba tablets to his Bangladesh accomplice. The drugs were hidden under the foot mat of the vehicle, BSF added.
Anti-Narcotics Task Force, Shillong also reached the spot and carried out an investigation. He was handed over to Pynursla police for further disposal.
