One person, identified as Anoy Paul from the village of Dalu in West Garo Hills, was arrested on suspicion of being involved in a fight between two groups of people last night after polls closed in the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) election.
The incident, which quickly turned into a law and order problem, was followed by a residents’ gherao of the Dalu Police Station last evening, which was only calmed after assurances were received from the district administration that it would act against those who incited the clash.
