One person was arrested by police on suspicion of involvement in the planting of an IED outside the office of the National People’s Party this week.
In a statement today, police said that they had apprehended the suspect (who was unnamed) at around 3:30pm from Shillong Civil Hospital based on reliable information.
In the course of investigation, the suspect, according to police, admitted to his role and also stated that he is a member of the proscribed HNLC rebel group.
“Incriminating evidence has been seized from his possession and investigation of the case is in progress to arrest the accused persons involved in the crime,” the police said.
