The Hynñiewtrep National Youth Front (HNYF) claimed today that several government employees in West Jaiñtia Hills have been appointed illegally.

The HNYF’s West Jaiñtia unit said that, based on Right to Information (RTI) findings, it had found that 19 staff in Health Department roles in the district had been appointed in 2014 without going through the proper procedures. The pressure group, however, believes that the real number of illegal appointees is higher and it is not done investigating the matter.

The appointments were made without any advertisement and those given the jobs did not go through the District Selection Committee (DSC) examination, the HNYF stated.

The pressure group plans on filing an official complaint soon. It is demanding that the 19 be removed from their posts within two weeks and that those who are on the DSC waiting list be given priority in these jobs.
