In a bid to strengthen the National People’s Party (NPP) ahead of next year’s state elections, the National People’s Youth Front (NPYF), the youth wing of the NPP, elected new office bearers for its Ri-Bhoi unit today.
NPYF state president Kitbor Nongrem administered the oath for the new office bearers. Also present on the occasion were Jirang MLA Sosthenes Sohtun, Umsning MDC Macdalyne Sawkmie Mawlong, Jirang MDC VIctor Rani and NPP district president Clement Mawlong.
The new office bearers include president Pyndaplang Wahlang, working president Ridshansing Lyngdoh, vice-president Lansius Syiemlieh, general secretary, Pynbhalang Syiem and others.
Sohtun said that the strong youth wing will help the NPP win all five seats in the 2023 election. In 2018 the party won two of Ri-Bhoi’s five seats in the Assembly.
Mawlong and Rani also inspired the youth to work for the NPP to bring about all-round development for Meghalaya.
