The State government through the Education Department has issued a notification on May 29 which provides that all employees of deficit colleges should be included in the new pension scheme by converting the contributory provident fund contribution with effect from April 1, 2010.
As per the notification, the managements of deficit colleges are required to provide NPS facilities to the employees failing which the employers will be held responsible.
Another notification was issued on May 29 pertaining to non-government school and college employees appointed to sanctioned posts who joined regular service prior to April 1, 2010.
The State government informed this today during hearing in the Meghalaya High Court of the writ petition filed by the Meghalaya College Teachers’ Association (MCTA).
