National People’s Party (NPP) leader and cabinet minister in the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) coalition government, James PK Sangma, said that his party is not worried about reports that certain politicians who had deserted the Congress in the past are trying to make their way back to the party.
“We understand the responsibilities that we have, we understand the kind of expectations of not just the public at large but also of the leaders within the party of what is expected of the party and I think that, to the best of our abilities, we are trying to meet those expectations and that’s why we are not worried about it,” Sangma said.
Prior to the 2018 Assembly elections, Prestone Tynsong, Sniawbhalang Dhar and Comingone Ymbon had quit the Congress for the NPP.
Sangma also said that what the Congress leadership is doing, is their business.
“Who they are wooing or who they are trying to bring back is something that is an internal matter of the Congress and I have nothing to say about that,” he said.
