The opening and foundation stone laying ceremonies of the Northern Ri Bhoi College was today held in the school campus of the Higher Secondary School, Diwon, Umden.
Chief adviser to the Government of Meghalaya and former chief minister, DD Lapang, Shillong MP Vincent Pala, Nongpoh MLA Mayral Born Syiem and other dignitaries were present at the function.
Lapang said that the college has been a dream of the people and of Ri-Bhoi. He hoped that the college will enable underprivileged students pursue higher studies.
He also appealed parents, students and governing body of the college to maintain the spirit of unity and to work together for uplifting the college and also urged students to aim high so as they achieve their goal.
Presently 45 students are enrolled in the college as the first batch.
