The Dorbar Shnong of Nongrim Hills issued a clarification today to make it clear that the suspect in the Nongstoiñ double murder from earlier this week was a visitor to the neighbourhood but not a bona fide resident.
Police had revealed that the suspect was arrested in Nongrim Hills. However, some media houses had reported that the person was a resident of the neighbourhood.
In a press release, the Rangbah Shnong, Bantylli Narry, said that the man had visited Nongrim Hills several times and had even stayed in the house of a resident there.
Following the murder, the suspect had arrived at the locality in bloodstained clothing, which was confiscated by police during a search in the presence of Narry. The suspect also led police to a stream behind the house in which he frequented where he had disposed of two mobile phones belonging to his victims.
Meanwhile, a group, ‘Ka Sur ki Nongwest’ will hold a public rally and candle light vigil in Nongstoiñ on August 30 to protest against the murder.
The public rally will commence from Spengthawlangmlah, New-Nongstoiñ and will conclude at Nonbah to be followed by a candle light vigil.
